Our Beliefs

Armorel Baptist Church is a Conservative Independent Baptist Church. The following is a brief statement of faith:

1) The Bible
We believe the Holy Scriptures, composed of the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and the twenty-seven books of the New Testament, are the verbally inspired Word and Revelation of God. The Bible is inerrant, infallible-God-breathed. The initial miracle of divine inspiration of the original autographs also extends to the divine preservation of a pure text to this day. We have, therefore, the very Word of God preserved through the Hebrew Masoretic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus in the the King James Version, Therefore the KJV will only be used from the pulpit.

2) God
God is the Creator of man and the entire universe and upholds all things by the Word of His power. We believe there is One and only one true and living God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-eternal and co-equal from all eternity, each with distinct personalities, but with one nature.

3) Jesus Christ
We believe in the Deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, coexistent with the Father and Holy Spirit. He came to the world, born of a virgin, suffered, died, was buried and rose again bodily and ascended to the right hand of the Father.

4) Holy Spirit
We believe in the Person and work of the Holy Spirit which includes conviction of sin, regeneration of sinners, and indwelling of the believer. We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit and that the ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayer of believers for physical healing

5) Salvation
We believe that salvation of sinful man is wholly by God's grace and not by man's works; that Jesus Christ came into the world to make full payment for sin by His shed blood, substituionary death on the cross, and bodily resurrection from the grave; that man must personally repent of his sins and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior to receive the free gift of eternal life; that man can be saved only once and that there is no other way of salvation for sinful man.

6) Eternal security
We believe in the eternal security of the believer. Every Christian is kept by the power of God and can never perish nor fall from salvation.

7) Ordinances
We believe that Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to signify His death, burial, and resurrection and the believer’s identification with Jesus Christ. We do not believe that baptism saves. We believe that baptism is to be administered under the authority of the Local Church and Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. The Lord’s Supper constitutes the other of the only two ordinances of the church and by partaking of the Lord‘s supper we remember the death of Jesus Christ on the cross in our place.

8) SATAN
We believe in the personal existence of Satan, the Devil, who was created a perfect angelic being; who willfully led a host of other angels in rebellion against God; who is the author of sin, sickness and all false religions; who is the accuser of saints and tempter of all men; and who shall be cast into the lake of fire with his followers at the end of the millennium.

9) CREATION
We believe in the Genesis account of creation as neither allegory nor figuratively, but a literal, six day, historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of God without any (organic or theistic) evolutionary process

10) THE FALL OF MAN
We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker; that by his own free choice and willful decision fell into sin and there by incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is eternal separation from God. Man in his sinful condition is under just condemnation without defense or excuse. We believe that all men are born with a sinful nature and that all are sinners by nature and by practice.

11) HEAVEN AND HELL
We believe that Heaven and Hell are literal, eternal places, prepared of God; that every person has a soul of eternal duration; that heaven is a place of eternal joy and happiness for those who are saved by the grace of God; and that it is a place of God's preparation for His people. We also believe that those who do not accept God's grace and remain in their lost condition shall abide in hell, eternally separated from God to be tormented in a literal fire forever.

12) MARRIAGE
We believe sex is a gift from God to be enjoyed within the marriage relationship. We believe that God has commanded abstinence from any form of sexual/intimate activity outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. We believe that participation in any activity related to fornication, pornography, homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, and/or adultery is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God created human beings male and female; therefore we hold the distinction between the two sexes to be sacred. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to change the appearance of one’s sex by hormones, surgery, or any other means.
